Regional Conservation Forum
22 April 2011 | Article
The European Members of IUCN will meet during 7-9 September 2011 to discuss the contents of the next inter-sessional Programme 2013-2016. Representatives from no less than one third of IUCN’s global membership will get together at the Wissenschaftzentrum (i.e. the Centre for Science) in Bonn, Germany to guide the preparations for the next World Conservation Congress in 2012.
Discussions will focus on four specific programme areas and will look into the connections of IUCN’s Programme in relation to the CBD, Rio2012 and other global initiatives, and will branch out into engagement with the private sector and local and regional authorities. A draft agenda will be sent out during April together with specific indications on how to register and how to book hotels at preferential rates. All relevant information will be posted here in due time.
The day prior to the Regional Conservation Forum (RCF), 6th September, is dedicated to meetings of Chairs of National Committees and meetings of European Representatives from the 6 expert Commissions. This opportunity is provided in order to get the best possible input from all components of the constituency within the Region into the Programme.
Of interest to Members could be the UN DPI/NGO Conference that is being held in Bonn immediately prior to the RCF, 3-5 September. More information can be found here.
