Innovative partnerships in the conservation management of the Sirinard Rajini Mangrove Ecosystem Learning Centre in Pranburi

Background and Goals

In partnership with the private sector and other stakeholders, strengthen the committee of the Pranburi Mangrove Ecosystem Learning Centre to use adaptive management techniques in the sustainable management of the centre.

Roundtable discussions with the committee have identified six specific activities that contribute to two broader objectives:

  • Support Better Practices for the Management of the Mangrove Ecosystem in the Learning Centre
  • To Capture and Share the Learning from the Project Implementation with visitors and other stakeholders

  1. Study on waste water management
  2. Study on biodiversity in an abandoned shrimp farm
  3. Fishing livelihoods and traditional knowledge of the Pranburi estuary community
  4. Understanding the ecosystem value of the Pranburi learning centre and using knowledge to develop site specific management
  5. Solid waste management
  6. Economic evaluation of mangrove forest ecosystem services after restoration

The Sirinard Rajini Mangrove Ecosystem Learning Centre is located in Pak Nam Pran, Pranburi District of Prachubkirikan Province (Southern Thailand).
