New staff: Peter W. Crawford, Chief Technical Advisor, EU Global Climate Change Alliance, IUCN Lao PDR

IUCN welcomes Mr. Peter W. Crawford has joined IUCN as the Chief Technical Advisor, EU Global Climate Change Alliance, IUCN Lao PDR with effect from 01 April 2014. Mr. Crawford will be based at the IUCN Lao Country Programme Office, in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
In his role, Mr. Crawford will coordinate the IUCN Climate Change Adaption initiative of the EU at the country level to ensure effective and timely development, planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of an integrated and coherent programme for IUCN Lao PDR.
Mr. Crawford has over 18 years of experience in various positions in Lao PDR and Southeast Asia. He started his career in Lao PDR with CIDSE as a Training Advisor. After more than 11 years with the development and NGO sector, he moved to the corporate sector and undertook senior management roles with Sepon Mine, Theun-Hinboun Power Company and Xepian Xenamnoy Power Company.
Mr. Crawford holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Leicester University, UK, and Master of Science degrees from the University of London, UK and University of Manchester, UK (in environmental management and, GIS and environment, respectively). He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Development Management. He speaks English, Lao, Thai, Spanish and some Czech.
