Dr. Ma Keping Elected as IUCN Council Member

 At the recent IUCN World Conservation Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Dr. Ma Keping of The Chinese Institute of Sciences’ Institute of Botany was nominated as an IUCN Council Member. Dr. Ma will hold this post until 2012.

Membership Council guides IUCN’s activities and its World Conservation Congress. The Council is comprised of 24 Members from IUCN’s 24 regions and the Council itself selects no more than five Members.

As a renowned expert in the field of biodiversity conservation, Dr. Ma represents East Asia and South Asia Region in the Council. With the goal of letting the world better understand China achievements in the protection of biodiversity, Dr. Ma will continuously participate in various IUCN events, reinforce the IUCN membership in China, and promote China’s conservation enterprise.
