1. Buliding Coastal Resilience (BCR)

Climate change is a global challenge but a lot can be done at the local level to minimize impacts and capture opportunities. IUCN's(International Union for Conservation of Nature) Building Resilience to Climate Change Impacts―Coastal Southeast Asia Project, funded by European Union, aims to increase adaptive capacity of people and the ecosystems on which they depend to cope with the anticipated impacts of climate change and plan for Disaster Risk Reduction, through sound governance and planning.

Objective(s):

Strengthen the ability of local government and local people to plan for, and adapt to future climate risks in 8 coastal provinces between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok: Can Gio, Ben Tre, Soc Trang and Kien Giang in Vietnam; Kampot and Koh Kong in Cambodia and Trat and Chanthaburi in Thailand.

2. Mekong Water Dialogues (MWD)

The Mekong Water Dialogues is coordinated and facilitated by IUCN(International Union for Conservation of Nature) and supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. It was initiated to work with countries of the Mekong Region - Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam - to improve water governance by facilitating transparent and inclusive decision-making to improve livelihood security, human and ecosystem health.

Objective(s):

To promote IWRM and civil society participation in water resources management; expand areas of wetlands in Mekong Delta; address potential impacts of Mekong dams .

3. Mangroves For the Future (MFF)

Known as Mangroves for the Future is a partnership-based initiative promoting investment in coastal ecosystems for sustainable development. Mangroves For the Future provides a collaborative platform to help countries, sectors and agencies in the Mangroves For the Future region tackle the growing challenges to coastal sustainability.

Objective(s):

To overall Mangroves For the Future Phase 2 Agreement (2010-2013), Sida has provided separate funding for the Asia Regional Office to enable dedicated outreach and support in sharing the experiences of Mangroves For the Future with additional countries that have expressed a strong desire to become full members of Mangroves For the Future in future phases of the programme. Additionally, the outreach will facilitate implementation of trans boundary initiatives with existing Mangroves For the Future member countries to promote investments in shared coastal ecosystems
