Elections at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Jeju, CBD COP 11, launch of the biiodiversity communications campain 'How to Tell a Love Story" (about nature), and increasing engagement with young professionals in conservation and sustainable development.
In 2010, the focus was on communicating biodversity.
In 2011, CEC members took their expertise on the road from IUCN Regional Conservation Fora to national-level CEPA workshops.
An introduction to CEC. This tri-fold brochure was produced in October 2010 and updated in March 2011.
Faced with climate change and biodiversity loss, people are ready for messages that change hearts, minds and even behaviours. CEC seeks to engage and inspire people to value and protect nature – from policy makers to natural resource managers on the ground.

Bringing science to life through Communication, Education and Public Awareness
This toolkit brings science to life. Fact sheets, checklists and examples introduce users to the practical side of CEPA.
The aim is to heighten the impact of national biodiversity strategies and action plans. Tools and methods include information exchange, dialogue, education and social marketing. The IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (Frits Hesselink, Wendy Goldstein, Peter Paul van Kempen, Tommy Garnett and Jinie Dela) developed the toolkit for the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
