Elena Osipova

Elena joined the IUCN World Heritage Programme as a Junior Professional in August 2012, and was soon promoted to the position of Monitoring Officer. Elena is a Russian national and holds a degree in Ecology and a Candidate of Biological Sciences Degree (Russian equivalent of PhD). She also holds an M.Sc. in Sustainable Resource Management from the Technical University of Munich, with a specialization in protected areas management. Her previous work experience includes the EUROPARC Federation and Oulanka National Park in Finland. Elena holds a degree in translation and speaks several languages, including Russian, English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, some Portuguese and a little bit of Finnish. In the World Heritage Programme, Elena coordinates the IUCN World Heritage Outlook project and is responsible for carrying out monitoring on the state of conservation of natural and mixed World Heritage sites in Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Oceania. She is the Programme focal point for climate change and natural World Heritage.
